Joining class & classroom features
The video classroom runs right on the Zasu website: mic, camera, virtual background, screen sharing, whiteboard, chat with file sharing, lesson notes and learner controls.
⏱ 6 min read🗓 Updated 22/10/2026
No need to install Zoom or Meet: the classroom runs in your browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari) on a computer or phone. A computer with a headset is best for comfortable screen sharing and whiteboard writing.
Joining class
Step 1
Click Join class on the Tutor hub (or open the lesson from a reminder notification)
The room opens 5 minutes before the lesson. If you arrive earlier, the lesson page tells you when the room opens — come back on time and the room appears by itself.
Step 2
The room connects automatically — turn on your mic and camera in the control bar
When you join, your mic and camera are both off. When the browser asks for camera / microphone permission, click Allow. If the browser blocks sound, click Tap to enable sound.
Dropping off or reloading the page for under 2 minutes still counts as present. If you leave the class by mistake, click Rejoin class.

Main features
Step 1
Learner controls: click ⋯ on the learner's video tile
Choose 🔇 Mute student, 📷 Turn off student's camera, 🎙️ Ask to unmute or ✋ Lower student's hand (when the learner has their hand up). You can't turn their mic on for them — you can only ask, and the learner turns it on.
Step 2
Whiteboard: click Board
Tools: select / move, freehand pen, straight line, arrow, rectangle, circle, T for typing text, eraser, insert image (up to 12 images). 5 colours, 3 line sizes. Add up to 20 pages; the ⬇️ button downloads the current page to your device as a PNG image.
Both of you can draw. Each person can erase their own strokes; the tutor can erase any stroke, and only the tutor has the clear-page button. The board is not saved on the server — to keep it, download the image before the lesson ends.
Step 3
Chat & files: click Chat, send files with the 📎 button
Files up to 5 MB, kept for 7 days: images, PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TXT, CSV. After the lesson, the files are on the lesson page.
With a new learner, file sharing unlocks after your first paid lesson together. Messages containing phone numbers, emails, Zalo and the like are blocked — all communication needs to stay on Zasu.
Step 4
Lesson notes: click Notes, type while you teach, click Save & send to student
Your typing is kept as a draft as you go; the learner only receives it when you click save or when you leave the class (it saves automatically). Attach homework files in the form right below the classroom — see Lesson notes & homework.
Step 5
Camera background: click Background
Choose Light blur, Strong blur, a built-in image or Your image. Processing happens on your device; your video isn't sent anywhere.
Room opening / closing times & attendance
- The room opens 5 minutes before the lesson. Below the room it always says until what time the room is open.
- Joining late: the room extends automatically so you get the full lesson length, up to 30 minutes after the end time (15 minutes for a free trial lesson), and never overlaps your next lesson.
- Free extra time: if you are both still in the room when time is up, it extends by 5 minutes at a time, up to 60 minutes. In the last 5 minutes a yellow bar counts down “The room will close in about … min.”
- Automatic attendance: the system records when each side joins / leaves (the 🕒 Room attendance section below the room) and uses it to settle the result automatically 24 hours after the lesson — tutors have no “confirm completed” button.
